Possible Kidos Au pair Remuneration

This is only a guideline. Kidos Au Pairs generally earn between R70 an hour + the rate per km depending on the hours worked as well as the kilometres travelled. All our families pay at the end of the month and this can range from +- R1,500 – R4,000 per month, depending once again on hours worked and kilometres travelled.

Sometimes au pairs start off with a small income, but later they get to look after kids for more than one family and get to earn more income. As an au pair you need to keep a record of the time worked and if you happen to drive for the family you must keep a log book while you drive the kids so that you can charge the family the correct amount at the end of each month.

Payment for travel is usually reimbursed according to Kidos Au Pair rates. This includes travel only, while the kids are in the car with the au-pair or being waited for at an extra mural etc, and does not include travel from wherever an au pair is from.

The rates are calculated per hour driven and not per child, and kilometers are calculated from pick up to drop off points. First pick up each day will be charged as a full hour; thereafter to be paid pro rata for additional trips.
